Specifically, PTSA is seeking funds to provide, among other needs, spectrophotometers for our science department, calculators for the math department and document cameras for social studies. Membership forms can be printed out from www.northwoodptsa.org. ALL MEMBERS RECEIVE A FREE NHS DIRECTORY!

Our first PTSA meeting of the year will be next Tuesday, September 23, at 7pm in the Staff Lounge that is located in the 800 Building behind the cafeteria. Come and hear updates from our principal, Mrs. Roach, and all of the activities that PTSA has planned for the year.

Becoming a PTSA Member 

We need you to become a PTSA member! The Northwood PTSA supports basic educational needs that impact all students and communicates directly with Northwood Administrators and Faculty. NOW, MORE THAN EVER, OUR HIGH SCHOOL NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT! All you need to do is continue to shop at Ralphs or Vons or dine out at participating restaurants and a portion of every purchase will be donated to PTSA for Grad Night! SmashBurger Grand Opening 
Week September 17-24 Benefits IPSF

Smashburger, the brand known for handcrafted burgers that undergo a unique 'smashing' technique, is celebrating the grand opening of its fourth Orange County location in Irvine by hosting a fundraiser to benefit the Irvine Public Schools Foundation. During the Irvine restaurant's grand opening week of Sept. 17-24, a portion of all sales will be donated directly to IPSF. No flyers or discount cards necessary! So be sure to bring in the whole family for lunch, dinner or even just a quick milkshake to go. Smashburger Irvine is located at 3831 Alton Parkway in the Westpark Plaza and is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.


5th Annual Spirit of Excellence Gala 
to be Held on Saturday, September 27th

Tickets are now on sale for IPSF's 5th Annual Spirit of Excellence Gala on Saturday, September 27th at KIA Motors.   The event features red carpet arrivals, cocktail reception, dinner, and a live and silent auction. This year's event is co-chaired by IPSF Board member Grace Lin and syndicated sports talk show host Jim Rome, who will also host a portion of the evening's program. Your PTSA Board has been busy working over the summer to prepare for the school year, and we hope our efforts will help you feel even more a part of Northwood. We encourage you to share your ideas and become involved. There are many ways to participate, whether you work or stay at home. Registration Days are Over!
A big thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make the registrations days a huge success. In spite of the oppressive heat, our volunteers made each day run smoothly and welcomed our students back for the new year. A special thank you to our Registration Chair Lisa Hibbard and her grade level chairs Suzi Okuda, Satomi Connelly, Carol Erle and Isabelle Mah for all of their help in leading the troops.
