Congratulations to Northwood's Reflections Winners! 
Northwood High School has three students who were named as District finalists in the PTA Reflections Programs. These individuals were the only high school students in IUSD who made it to the finals! Congratulations to Mary-Ann Chen (Film Production), Troy Charbonnet (Photography) and Steven Lee (Visual Arts) on their tremendous achievement. They will be recognized at an award ceremony on February 14th and will find out at that time if they have been chosen to move on to the State level competition. Great Job!

Participate in the Timberwolf 5k Run/Walk on Saturday, February 14 
The Northwood High School Athletic Booster Club will be holding the 6th annual Timberwolf 5k Run/Walk on Saturday, February 14th at NHS at 8:00 AM sharp. This is the major fundraiser for our Northwood athletic program and for the 4th year in a row, a portion of all funds raised will be donated to Families Forward. The registration fee goes up on January 30, so sign up today.

Rent or buy a tux or suit for Winter Formal from Men's Wearhouse and support Northwood! Receive $40 off your tux rental or 40% off a retail item including suits. Men's Wearhouse will donate back to Northwood for every purchase when you mention Northwood High School and bring in the flyer available at the SAC (and attached here). 1. Grad Night tickets are on sale. Purchase by February 27 before the next price increase. Ticket purchase agreement form can be found via the link below, or on the PTSA website (www.northwoodptsa.org) under Grad Night Forms.

Parent and student must complete and sign the form, and attach payment of check only to NHS PTSA.  Please return to front office or SAC. If you would like to make an additional contribution toward the event, family donation information can be found also at the bottom of the ticket form.

Grad Night is a special all-night party at a secret location for Seniors only, on the night of Graduation and into the next morning (10:00 p.m. on June 17 until 6:00 a.m. on June 18).  The ticket price includes transportation, food, entertainment, and more! The event is completely safe and supervised by adults and organized by PTSA. Grad Night is the best night of the year for the Seniors, and most all of the Senior Class attends! After the Graduation ceremony, there is still plenty of time to celebrate with family and friends before Grad Night begins. 

Buy your ticket today ... We don't want any of the Seniors to miss out!

Hear about the challenges that parents face when their children are preparing to enter college and learn practical tips to help the changing relationship between parents and children and how to reduce stress in these emotional roller coaster months.

Open auditions for "America's Got Talent" are coming to Los Angeles on February 14th and 15th and they are seeking participation from high schools in Southern California.This will be a great opportunity for people to showcase their talent, which can lead to the chance to compete for the Million Dollar prize and gain national exposure. Any Age, Any Talent! Come spend an exciting day with us! It's a great fantastic opportunity to meet the producers of the show and let them see your talent in action. Even if you have never auditioned for anything in your life, it will be a fun way to spend the day and have some stories to tell your friends.

Presentation on "Preparing for Change:
Transitioning to College and Empty Nesting"

Parents of a graduating senior? Congratulations! However, are you wondering if your child is sufficiently prepared to transition to adulthood and what your life will be like when they leave for college? Join the Northwood High School PTSA on Tuesday, January 20th, at 6:30 p.m. in the Media Center for this special presentation by Eileen Lenson. PTSA Meeting will follow presentation.

Ms. Lenson will talk about how parents can prepare for the changes in their children in the months prior to high school graduation, to know when to shift decision-making responsibility to their children and how to take care of yourself and your changing role as a parent. Hear about the challenges that parents face when their children are preparing to enter college and learn practical tips to help the changing relationship between parents and children and how to reduce stress in these emotional roller coaster months.

High School Advocacy Trip to Sacramento for Juniors and Seniors 
The annual IUSD High School Advocacy Trip to Sacramento is scheduled for March 10, 2015. This is a great opportunity for Juniors and Seniors who are interested in being an advocate for Northwood to travel to Sacramento and meet our legislators and learn more about state government. If you are interested, please download and complete the application. Please return it to Mrs. Roach by January 9th. Applications are also available in the front office.
