As the Deputy Director of Public Works for the City of Irvine, Scott
Smith oversees a $70M+ annual budget and a team of 130+ staff members who have
the responsibility of building and maintaining the City’s road infrastructure,
public parks, public buildings, and public amenities within the Great Park. Mr.
Smith previously worked for the City of Oceanside, owned his own Engineering
and Construction business, and worked at various engineering firms creating
designs for undeveloped land. He is a licensed Civil Engineer, Traffic
Engineer, Land Surveyor, and General Contractor. Mr. Smith obtained his Masters
and Bachelors degrees from California State University - Fullerton and the
University of California – Irvine, respectively. He lives in Irvine with his
wife and two teenage sons, who attend Northwood High School.
