Grad Night is a special all-night party at a secret location for Seniors only, on the night of Graduation and into the next morning (10:00 PM on June 17 until 6:00 AM on June 18). The ticket price includes transportation, food, entertainment, and more! The event is completely safe and supervised by adults and organized by PTSA. Grad Night is the best night of the year for the Seniors, and most of the Senior Class attends! After the Graduation ceremony, there is still plenty of time to celebrate with family and friends before Grad Night begins.

Election Day is Fast Approaching!
This Tuesday, November 4th is a local, state and federal election and YOUR VOTE IS IMPORTANT. Polls will be open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Your polling location is listed on your sample ballot or visit www.ocvote.com to find your polling place. If you have received an Absentee Ballot and have not yet mailed it in, please drop it off at your polling place on Tuesday. Do NOT mail it, as there is not sufficient time for it to be received by the Registrar of Voters on Election Day. PTSA reminds you to stand up and be counted. Vote!

15th Annual NHS Baseball Christmas Tree, Wreath and Garland Sales
With the Holidays right around the corner, the NHS Boys Baseball team is once again sponsoring its Christmas tree sales fundraiser. The trees - Noble Firs and Douglas Firs - are typically sourced from the Pacific Northwest and are cut two days before shipping. In addition, we are selling fresh and fragrant wreaths and garlands to help round-out your holiday home decorating.

We are also conducting a Christmas Tree drive to help out military families at Camp Pendleton who cannot afford to buy a tree this holiday season. If you wish to help us out with our Christmas Tree drive and support our military families, you can purchase a tree to be donated.


Purchases will be available for pick-up on Saturday, December 6, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Northwood High School (just follow the signs at the entrance to the high school). So please don't wait! Week September 17-24 Benefits IPSF

Smashburger, the brand known for handcrafted burgers that undergo a unique 'smashing' technique, is celebrating the grand opening of its fourth Orange County location in Irvine by hosting a fundraiser to benefit the Irvine Public Schools Foundation. During the Irvine restaurant's grand opening week of Sept. 17-24, a portion of all sales will be donated directly to IPSF. No flyers or discount cards necessary! This year's event is co-chaired by IPSF Board member Grace Lin and syndicated sports talk show host Jim Rome, who will also host a portion of the evening's program. Show your artistic skills by participating in the PTA Reflections Program. The theme for 2014 is "The world would be a better place if..." Express yourself through Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography or Visual Arts. Submittals are due by October 1st in the front office. Welcome to all of our new and returning families. Your PTSA Board has been busy working over the summer to prepare for the school year, and we hope our efforts will help you feel even more a part of Northwood. We encourage you to share your ideas and become involved. There are many ways to participate, whether you work or stay at home. Registration Days are Over!
A big thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make the registrations days a huge success. In spite of the oppressive heat, our volunteers made each day run smoothly and welcomed our students back for the new year. A special thank you to our Registration Chair Lisa Hibbard and her grade level chairs Suzi Okuda, Satomi Connelly, Carol Erle and Isabelle Mah for all of their help in leading the troops.

Grad Night Tomorrow - Tickets Still Available!

Seniors and Senior Parents, Grad Night tickets are still for sale, at $145 per ticket. If you want to purchase a ticket, please bring your Ticket Purchase Agreement to Grad Night check-in, in the gym, at 10:00 pm Tuesday night.

Wear closed-toe shoes and do NOT bring anything you cannot bring to a regular dance.  You will have to throw out any items not allowed in regular dances.

Congratulations and see you at 10:00 pm Tuesday evening!

Thanks for your support of NHS PTSA! Have a great summer!

As we reach the end of the school year, I wanted to thank all of you for your volunteer time and contributions in support of Northwood High School and the NHS PTSA. We have created a special place here at Northwood and you played an important part in the continued success of our school and our students. Congratulations to our graduating Seniors! We are proud of you and your achievements and can't wait to hear of your adventures in the future. To the rest of our students and families, have a great summer and we look forward to seeing you in the Fall!

Northwood PTSA Needs a Historian!
Are you wanting to get involved in Northwood PTSA?  We are looking for a Historian for the 2014-15 school year. This is a great entry-level position that does not take a lot of time. Election Day is This Tuesday!
Tuesday is a local, state and federal election and YOUR VOTE IS IMPORTANT. Polls will be open from 7am to 8pm. Your polling location is listed on your sample ballot or visit www.ocvote.com to find your polling place. Stand up and be counted. Please vote!

SENIOR PARENTS!
Don't miss out on presenting your graduate with a beautiful purple and white lei on Graduation Day, June 24th! The last day to order leis is this Friday, June 6th, by 2:00 PM. Forms were sent out with the Senior Packet, but if you don't have one, have your student submit an envelope marked Graduation Lei to SAC, or mail it to Grad Nite 2014, Northwood High School, 4515 Portola Parkway, Irvine, CA 92620. Include your graduate's name, your name, your email address, your cell number and how many leis you would like to purchase ($20 each). Make checks payable to NHS PTSA.
